Internationally acclaimed and award winning Flutist and Composer Burak Besir received his early education at Ankara State Conservatory in Turkey, master’s degree in solo performance at the Royal Scottish Academy and Contemporary Writing & Production and Composing degree from Berklee College of Music. Burak received number of awards from Berklee College of Music including “Arif Mardin” and “Best Concerto Performer” awards. He played at Istanbul Opera and Ballet, Istanbul Borusan Philharmonic and currently plays at the Video Game Orchestra in US. Studying with legendary Flutist, Sir James Galway gave him unique versatility and technique.
Burak’s flute playing and compositions incorporate both rich and diverse styles, from orchestral to contemporary music and crosses many musical genres. His flute choir arrangements of Mouquet's "La Flute de Pan Op15", and Smetana's "Moldau" and Dvorak “American Suite” are performed at Sir James Galway International Flute Festival. Burak dedicated his composing "Sound From Anatolia” to Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway. The premiere was performed in 2010 in Switzerland.
His performances include 86th first Oscar Concert with Academy Symphony Orchestrain LA, Lord Of The Rings suite at Boston Symphony Hall, Bizet’s Carmen Fantasy with Berklee Contemporary Orchestra and most recently at the Venetian Theatre, Las Vegas at the Nintendo’s legendarygame Legend of Zelda’s Symphony concert . He appeared many times as guest artist at Sir James Galway International Flute Convention in Switzerland and at the National Flute Association Conventions in Las Vegas, Chicago and North Carolina where he performed his solo and ensemble compositions.
Residing in Los Angeles with his family, Burak also composes music to TV shows and films appearing on SyFy, Hallmark and at major Turkish TV networks. As a multi-instrumentalist, he plays at TV shows as recording artist including, CW’s “Reign”, Game Of Thrones Cosplay and at El Mundo TVshows.
